Schools compete for The Crossbar Cup 2017
The 2017 Crossbar Cup
With over 30 Primary Schools from Shropshire competing across 3 separate tournaments including; the Year 5/6 Boys, Year 5/6 Girls and Year 3/4 Boys this was the biggest and busiest year for the Crossbar Cup since we first launched it in 2012.

The tournament kicked off with the Year 3/4 Boys which saw 12 teams compete to take home the Crossbar Cup or the Crossbar Plate, giving the players 2 opportunities to win and more game time throughout the day. The idea of splitting the tournament into 2 separate knockout tournaments was the whole reason The Crossbar Cup was invented, we wanted to offer more opportunity to win and therefore create an atmosphere where players received a greater sense of achievement. As well as the double chance of winning there are also prizes awarded to individual players for demonstrating a positive attitude and working as part of a team which again encouraged an all round feeling that players were taking part to enjoy and express themselves.
Congratulations to all of the teams that entered and well done to Lightmoor Primary on winning The Crossbar Plate and Oakmeadow Primary on winning The Crossbar Cup!
Next up was the Year 5/6 Boys with 16 Primary Schools taking part and a tall order ahead in topping what had been a fantastic Year 3/4 Boys tournament the week before. Once again the tournament was played out in great spirit and some of the football on show really was great to watch.
Well done to Redhill Primary School on winning The Crossbar Plate and Oakmeadow Primary in completing the double by following in their Year 3/4 counterparts footsteps and winning The Crossbar Cup!
Finally the Year 5/6 Girls took to the stage for the final Crossbar Cup of the year and they didn't disappoint with 12 teams all doing their schools proud not only with their performance on the pitch but their conduct off the pitch.
Here's all the action in pictures including the winners of the Crossbar Plate; St Peters Primary and the winners of The Crossbar Cup; Lawley Primary.
We're looking forward to The Crossbar Cup 2018 already!!!!
